Spring Term 2019
This term we are exploring the seasons. We have enjoyed experiencing the snowy, windy and warm days and all the exciting learning opportunities they have provided us with, such as building snowmen at Fishponds, creating kites and safety signs for the climbing frame, or exploring shadows and bubbles.
In Blue class, we are following the children’s interests and needs and have been focusing on some key stories:
- The Gingerbread Man
- The Three Billy Goats Gruff
- Goldilocks and the Three Bears
- The Three Little Pigs
These stories have been explored both inside and outside with the introduction of cement in with the sand and blocks, using puppets, blocks and the bridge outside to re-enact the story.
The children have also showed great fascination in festivals and traditions, such as Chinese New Year and Pancake Day.
The children’s keen interests in mixing and creating different textures has led onto exploring scientific experiments, such as colour mixing and creating volcanoes. This develops children’s characteristics of effective learning, encouraging making predictions, commenting and developing vocabulary.
