Head’s Blog April 2017

Welcome back after a lovely sunny Easter break. I do hope that you found time to enjoy being together as a family and that the children enjoyed taking part in the many Easter Egg hunts around the locality that I have heard about.

I apologise for not keeping this blog updated but as many of you know I did have a problem with my hand and typing was difficult for a while. I am pleased to say that following a second operation I am now on the mend and I would like to say thank you for your kind thoughts. I was sorry to miss the Easter Bonnet Parade and thank you for raising over £400 for our school fund through the raffle and cake sale. AMAZING !!!

It was great to see so many happy faces this morning returning to school and Mums and Dads looked happy too as most had heard about the school placements for September. It is such an exciting time for you all and I know that the children are telling each other which school they are going to. It does sometimes happen that some of the children get a little upset and worried as they are not sure what is happening. They know that they are going to another school but as they are still so young they have little concept of time. It is approximately 144 sleeps until they start in Reception so we still have a long time to continue to develop and learn in nursery.

We are delighted to announce that Delyana one of our Nursery Nurses in Blue class is getting married in Bulgaria in May. She will be taking some additional time off around her wedding time but we have made sure that the classrooms are fully staffed in her absence.

I know that you are aware that schools are having to make cuts and sadly the nursery school is not an exception. We are having to make cuts this financial year and I am working with the governors and staff through a consultation, planning the best way forward for the sustainability of the school in the future. Dan Wilson our School Business Manager has reduced his working days this term.

This term is a busy term for us as we will be planning our trips to Bockett’s Farm in June and we will be taking part in and exciting Expressive Arts and Design week in July. We have Zoo lab visiting again and a musical company called Earthsong spending the day with us providing the children with opportunities to learn about and play instruments from around the world. Without your generosity we would not be able to offer your children these  extra curriculum opportunities.  More information will be sent to nearer the time.
